New Sustainable Tourism Model

Back

Bribie Island, with its surf and calm water beaches, its unique vegetation, prolific birdlife and other wildlife species, visitor amenities such as foreshore parks and hospitality venues, the Community Arts Centre and the Seaside Museum, has long been popular with visitors from the adjacent mainland and further afield.

BIEPA is working to promote nature-based visitor experiences which showcase the unique environment of the Island without being detrimental to its natural assets.  These include non-motorised water-based activities, bushwalks such as BIEPA’s annual Spring Wildflower Walk, bird-watching, cycling etc.

As part of its longer-term vision, BIEPA is pursuing the concept of a vibrant “Discovery Centre” to inform residents, school students and visitors about Bribie’s environment and how it can be enjoyed while protecting its fragile eco-system.
